Around 100 women residents of Kurcilapet near Tirupatthur blocked Tirupatthur–Alangayam Road with empty pots demanding immediate water supply. Tirupatthur police rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters promising to regular water supply. Following this, the women dispersed from the spot.

Similarly, residents of Krishanpuram near Arakkonam besieged the BDO office, demanding water supply. The agitators told the BDO that their area did not receive water for more than three months and even after repeated complaints officials failed to take any action to resolve the problem.

Officials said the problem was due to a break in the supply line which was now being attended to. Once the pipe was repaired, normal supply would be restored, officials assured. Later the women withdrew the protest and left the spot.
