Finish work by March 5: TN top brass gears up for election dates

The top brass in the State government has instructed all government departments to complete pending work before March 5, as dates of the general elections are to be announced by the first week of March.

State Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo had sent a communique to the Election commission saying that TN is logistically ready to hold elections to all the Lok Sabha seats and the vacant 21 assembly seats, a senior official told DTNext.


A battery of EC officials led by Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora will visit the State and hold a review meeting along with CEO, Chief Secretary and the DGP. At present, transfer of all IAS, IPS and revenue officials are under way, the official added.


All District Collectors and local body administrators have been told to complete pending civic works like drinking water augmentation, road repairs, restoration of faulty street lights into LED facilities and also conclude ongoing storm water drain projects.
