AIADMK alliance shameful, says Dhinakaran

Addressing newspersons in Madurai, Dhinakaran termed the AIADMK alliance as shameful and opportunistic, adding that people would never accept it.  “It was unfortunate that the AIADMK has allied with those who talked ill of Jayalalithaa. The AIADMK would not even hesitate to forge an alliance with the DMK.”

“It seems that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the general secretary of AIADMK, a party which was weakened by Edappadi K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam,” the AMMK leader said, adding that there was a likelihood of the Deputy Chief Minister joining the BJP.

Stating that he won the RK Nagar Assembly bypoll on ‘cooker’ symbol, Dhinakaran said, “There is nothing wrong in contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on the same symbol, as it has been well accepted by people across Tamil Nadu.”

He, however, said the AMMK has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court’s recent verdict on the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol that went in favour of the AIADMK and was waiting for its outcome.

Commenting on his party’s alliance for the Parliamentary polls, Dhinakaran said the AMMK had held talks with many parties. “However, we did not want to partner with those parties that had opposed Jayalalithaa. Since, the AMMK has got enormous support from the people and its cadre, we will emerge victorious in the elections.”

“Currently, talks are on with a party, which is likely to contest in two constituencies. We will contest in the rest of the constituencies and achieve victory. Every cadre who worked hard for the party would be given a chance to contest the polls,” he said.
