Kamal’s party gets star push on Women’s Day

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founded by actor-politician Kamal Haasan received a shot in the arm when actor ‘Kovai’ Sarala joined the party on Friday.

Sarala, who had acted in several films with Kamal, including the comedy capers like ‘Sathileelavathy’ and ‘Kaadhala Kaadhala’, joined the party in the presence of the party founder during the Women’s Day celebrations at the Party office here.


Sarala was the latest from the Kollywood to join the MNM. Already popular actress Sripriya, who had shared screenspace with Kamal in a number of films, and actor Nasser have joined the MNM.


Speaking on the occasion, Kamal had a dig at DMDK Founder and actor Vijayakanth and DMK, and said neither his daughter nor his brother-in-law would take over the party after his time.


“We are here to serve the people’” he said .
