In the 4.08-minute-long video clip, Kamal is seen asking a slew of questions and demanding reaction from the Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami. “I am not asking as the president of the Makkal Needhi Maiam. I am asking as a father of two daughters. What are you going to do?” Kamal asks the Chief Minister in the video.
Kamal has posted the video clip on his Twitter handle and Facebook page. While the video on Twitter garnered more than 1.9 lakh views, the same clip on Facebook garnered more than 3.31 lakh views and was shared over 15,000 times till Friday evening. Condemning the police for releasing the identity of the victim, the actor-politician demands the government to act against the superintendent of police, Coimbatore, who revealed the identity.
“The government is releasing the videos of victims only to discourage and intimidate other victims from coming forward and filing complaints. You are claiming that the government functions in the name of a woman(J Jayalalithaa), but you are silent in this issue. We are shattered. Are you?” he goes on. In the video clip, Kamal also criticises the government for attacks on college students who are protesting in support of the victims.
Meanwhile, the video has received a mixed response as some Facebook users criticised Kamal based on his personal relationships. Many users commented in support of Kamal and sought action in Pollachi case.
