Popular dialogues of big stars of Tamil movies are effectively used to propagate the importance of voting and the initiative became a hit on the social media as the memes were shared widely.

The initiative a brainchild of Assistant Collector (Srirangam) Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar. “In the present day, you can popularise anything using social media. It is our responsibility to ensure the voters understand the importance of voting and so, we created a set of memes after carefully selecting the scenes and dialogues from various Tamil movies,” Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar told DT Next. “When I saw the memes on current affairs and other political events on social media, I thought it will be a good idea to use meme to create awareness on compulsory voting and it worked,” Senthil Kumar added.

“We have taken interesting dialogues of Ajith, Vikram, Vijay Sethupathy, Arvind Swamy, ‘Jeyam’ Ravi and Sivakarthikeyan, who have no political affiliations. The team has created 12 memes using the dialogues of these big stars of Kollywood. We sent it to the Election Commission for their approval three days ago. All of them were officially approved by the EC on Wednesday and then it was circulated it on social media,” he added.

He also claimed that theresponse from the public has been remarkable. The officials have posted the memes on Facebook pages, WhatsApp group and appealed to the youth to circulate them.
