Others hit campaign trail, BJP turns to prayers

Kamalalayam, the BJP headquarters, witnessed back to back homams and special pujas praying for a secondterm for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The sudarshana homam and lalitha sahasranama had PM Modi’s name mentioned and vedic verses were also chanted by five priests, who performed the homam. Kolams showing BJP symbol Lotus was also drawn at Kamalalayam, the party’s HQ in Chennai, where the rituals were performed

Senior BJP leader L Ganesan chanted the mantras along with the priests and urged the cadre to continue the campaign with fighting spirit. “Whenever sankalpams taken and homams performed, the name of the family head will also be mentioned. For us Prime Minister Modi is the head of BJP family, so we included his name in the sankalpams,” Ganesantold DT Next.

The Sudarshana homam gives strength to take charge of enemies and also relieves unexplainable sufferings and worries. Most of the politicians do such homams but they keep it low profile, explained a BJP insider.

Lalitha sahasranama was also recited for the prosperity of the country and to ward off fear. To her part State BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan also participated in Ganapathy and Chandy homams in the morning, BJP sources said.

“Special prayers invoking Ganapathi and Mahakali was also done to draw positive energy and vibration. We are confident that Prime Minister Modi will rule the country for another five years,” said Karikalan, a die-hard BJP supporter.

Later in the day, BJP workers offered sweets and prasad after the candidate list was announced by the party high command.

The saffron party will hit the campaign trail from Friday. PM Modi is expected to address five rallies in TN, BJP sources said.
