Premalatha gives Sivaji tune to MGR song, irks AIADMK

Premalatha told the cadre that party president Vijayakant was being speech training with songs of MGR.

Referring to Vijayakant with his popular name of ‘Karuppu MGR’, she said the Captain’s favourite MGR song was ‘Olimayamaana Ethirkaalam’ and that he always croons this particular number. “He sings only this number of MGR whenever trainers ask him to sing,” she said.

Soon, some of the cadre welcomed it with an applause and enthused by their action Premalatha sang it for them. Shocked and embarrassed by the wrong reference, AIADMK cadre present in the meeting ridiculed her for her poor knowledge, though she hailed from a family with deep roots in cinema.
