The anonymous victim claims in a shaking voice that she and four other girls managed to escape from the farm house on that fateful night.
“I am speaking the truth and this is the first time I have opened up about the incident. A girl died after she was raped the entire night. Her body has been buried behind Thirunavukkarasu’s farm house,” she says in the audio clip that has become viral on social media.
She adds in the audio, “A nine-member gang was involved in the sexual assaults. Thirunavukkarasu and his gang threatened the five of us not to reveal details of the incident to anybody.”
The clip has triggered outrage among people as not only is this is the first time that details of the horrific murder have emerged but also because the police have so far claimed only four persons were involved in the offence.
Crime Branch-CID IG C Sridhar said several audio and video clips were being circulated on social media in connection with the Pollachi sex scandal. “The authenticity of these clips is yet to be verified. I am yet to hear this audio clip and it needs to be examined before further action is taken,” he added.
Meanwhile, the CB-CID sleuths have issued summons to DMK’s south district secretary ‘Thendral’ Selvaraj’s son S Manimaran and ‘Bar’ Nagaraj, who was expelled from AIADMK for an inquiry in connection with the case. They have been asked to appear on or before March 28.
DMK advocate Meeran Moideen told reporters that CB-CID has issued the summons at the behest of the ruling AIADMK.
“The DMK will take legal action as the CB-CID is trying to establish a link between Manimaran and Nagaraj by issuing summons to both on the same day. The CB-CID is involved in diversionary tactics and the case should be handed over to CBI for a proper investigation,” he added.
Nagaraj was arrested for assaulting a victim’s brother along with four others over the issue.
Meeran also blamed Coimbatore’s Superintendent of Police for failing to take action on a complaint to stop AIADMK from spreading false news and photos about Manimaran.
Women advocates seek victim-centric one-stop crisis centre
