AIADMK’s e-Seva scheme missing in campaign talk, cadre upset
The ruling AIADMK is highlighting several of its welfare schemes during its campaign for the upcoming polls. However, a section of party cadre in Vellore district is irked at ministers ignoring e-Seva centres, a brainchild of former CM J Jayalalithaa, which offer a range of government services to the public.

They said both Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami andhis deputy O Panneerselvam failed to mention the e-Seva centres in their speech.
“When it is being claimed that 70 per cent of the people live in rural areas, why have the ministers not included e-Seva in the list of achievements?” asked S Poovarasan, an AIADMK cadre, adding that the e-governance facility has created a revolution in villages.
“The online facility, which helped us to easily apply for government certificates, meant that we don’t need to bribe the revenue officials to get the job done,” he said.
Now, an applicant only must fill up a form and submit it at the e-Seva centre and pay a paltry fee of Rs 60. They would get their certificate in a week, besides receiving regular updates on their mobile phones, Poovarasan said.
“This facility has really been a boon as earlier we had to approach the VAO for certificates,” said Kodiswara Kumar, a resident of Oosur.
Even rival parties expressed surprise over the development. “The AIADMK government talks of transparency. This is one scheme which has it in full measure and if highlighted could be to the advantage of the ruling party”, accepted a DMK functionary, preferring to be not named.
