“Some are saying that the I-T department raids are used for threatening. Only those who have committed mistakes will feel threatened by such raids. Neither the ones conducting the IT raids nor the ones who are being searched are good,” he told reporters in Puducherry. He was reacting to a query on the IT raid at DMK Treasurer Duraimurugan’s residence.
Income Tax officials had seized bundles of currency notes from a cement godown in Vellore on Monday. The godown allegedly belongs to Poonjolai Srinivasan, who is reportedly a friend of Duraimurugan. According to sources in the I-T department, the raid is still in progress at the residences of DMK functionary Perumal and Aakar Ali, the personal assistant of Duraimurugan.
Earlier, Kamal opened his party’s office in the union territory. Tense moments prevailed at the party office after many people gathered to take selfie with the actor-turned-politician.
