Congress leader alleges secret deal between Thambidurai and Dhinakaran
Though TTV Dhinakaran has been denying the repeated claims of Madurai Aadheenam on merger attempts, it was the turn of TNCC Minority Department Chairman Dr J Aslam Basha, who on Tuesday, alleged that Karur AIADMK candidate M Thambidurai has struck a secret deal with the AMMK deputy general secretary to join hands after the Lok Sabha elections.

Aslam Basha, who came to campaign for Karur Congress nominee S Jothimani, told reporters, “There is a secret pact between Thambidurai and Dhinakaran. Soon after the elections, Dhinakaran will join the AIADMK and then the merger of both the factions will happen. Thambidurai, who acted as an agent for the AIADMK-BJP pact, will use his experience for the merger as well,” he said.
Meanwhile, Alsam Basha said, “If Narendra Modi becomes the Prime Minister again, he will certainly destroy other political parties and will ensure no more elections are held in the country,” he said. Thus, the communal harmony will be under threat and the nation would be divided on religion lines.
Denied permission to campaign
Aslam Basha, one of the star campaigners of the Congress, came to Karur to campaign for Jothimani and was scheduled to address in Aravakurichi on Tuesday. It is said, the Congress candidate had already sought permission for the campaign.
However, in the evening, election officials denied permission to Congress saying that the same slot was allotted to AIADMK candidate M Thambidurai to campaign in the region.
“This is sheer misuse of power that my election campaign has been prevented though we got permission. This is proof to the fact that officials are favouring the ruling party,” charged Aslam Basha.
