Editor of the Bharathi Puthagalayam PK Rajan said that after the officials seized the books, there was high demand for the book across the state and all the copies of the first edition were sold out in a day. “We have published several books around elections over the years. Recently we had published books on Sterlite issue, NEET issue, violent politics and caste atrocities during the Modi government.
There were no issues over the release of such booklets,” he said, adding that the attempt to stop the release of the book on the Rafale deal was part of the attack on the freedom of expression under the present BJP regime. Authored by a Chennai-based engineer S Vijayan, the booklet, which is priced at Rs 15, compiles reports on the Rafale jet deal and allegations of corruption and crony capitalism, including investigative reports.
