“The Election Commission should carry out raids on police vehicles that carry cash for the AIADMK. If not, the DMK and our alliance party workers would stop police vehicles and ambulances and check them. We have all rights to intercept, check and question police on their authority to transport cash for the ruling party. But my plea is the government and the EC shouldn’t force us to resort to such acts,” he said while addressing an election campaign in Thondamuthur and Kuniamuthur areas in support of party candidate for Pollachi Lok Sabha constituency Shanmugasundaram.

Taking a dig at Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre by listing out unfulfilled promises like doubling farmers’ income, retrieval of black money and creating of jobs for ten crore people, Stalin said, the BJP came to power by spinning a web of lies and continues to reel out lies, now again for elections. “It is time for the BJP to go,” he added.

Slamming the Income Tax raids on the house of party treasurer Duraimurugan in Vellore as a ploy to cancel the elections in two Assembly constituencies, Stalin said that the ruling government remains a slave to the BJP as the AIADMK Ministers involved in corruption too were under the I-T dept and CBI radar. “Yet there was no follow up action. People should understand that Modi is using these enforcement agencies for his political gains,” he said.

Accusing the AIADMK of not conducting local body polls for the fear of defeat, Stalin said that Municipal Administration Minister SP Velumani swindled huge amount by awarding contracts to his family members. On the sensational Pollachi sexual harassment case, Stalin claimed that his party did not seek to politicise the issue and asked for a court-monitored probe.

“The CB-CID, while enacting an investigation drama, has been involved in destroying evidence and is threatening witnesses to weaken the case. Many affected women have committed suicide, but the Tamil Nadu police were in a state of coma and have failed to prevent such crimes,” he said.

Stalin also assured that DMK will create a special cybercrime unit in each district to investigate and prevent crimes against women.
