The state will witness polling on Thursday and the election campaign will conclude by 5 pm on Tuesday. Chennai is set to witness high voltage campaign in the last two days as all the major politicians are set to conclude their campaigns in various parts of the city.
“Captain will commence his campaign at 4 am in Chennai. He will campaign for North Chennai DMDK candidate Alagapuram Mohanraj, Central Chennai PMK candidate Sam Paul and South Chennai AIADMK candidate Jayavardhan”, stated a press release from the DMDK headquarters.
The DMDK sources said that though Vijayakant will be out for campaigning in an open jeep he will not address the crowd. He is set to utter only a couple of words in every spot as his health is not on his side, sources added.
The newly appointed DMDK Treasurer Premalatha Vijayakant, too confirmed the development. In her campaign in Virudhunagar, Premalatha said, “There is good news for you all (DMDK supporters). Captain is healthy and he will campaign. However, doctors have asked him to restrict his campaign to Chennai.”
Similarly, AMMK deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran will conclude his campaign in the city, on Tuesday. Throughout the day he will campaign in North, Central and South Chennai constituencies and in the evening will conclude the poll canvassing at Perambur Assembly constituency.
AIADMK convenor and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam is already campaigning in the outskirts of the city on Sunday. He was canvassing votes in Kancheepuram and Poonamallee and according to party sources he too will complete his campaign in the city.
DMK president MK Stalin will campaign in the city on Monday, but on Tuesday he will go to Tiruvarur constituency to end his campaign. It may be noted that he started his poll campaign from Tiruvarur and he proposes to end it there.
