In a statement, he said that contrary to the promises made by the AIADMK in its manifesto, senior BJP leaders and Union Ministers have rejected the party’s assurances given to the Tamil Nadu people even before the polling was held.
“The AIADMK promises to do away with NEET. But Union Minister Piyush Gopal says that the exam would continue,” Mutharasan said, adding that despite the AIADMK’s assurance to scrap the Salem-Chennai expressway project, Goyal’s colleague Nitin Gadkari had declared that the project would be implemented with the consent of the farmers.
Mutharasan noted that the Centre had already permitted the Karnataka government to construct a dam across the Cauvery at Mekedatu. He said that the BJP had clearly declared even before the elections that it would not implement the electoral assurances of the AIADMK if it comes to power. “Hence, I urge the Chief Minister to explain why his party continues to be in the BJP-led alliance and wanted it to come back to power,” he said.
