“The country was completely ruined in the last five years of the Narendra Modi government. Our Constitution also came under attack. Secularism, democracy and federalism came under the series of attacks,” CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan said.
Pointing out that the Modi was refusing to utter even a word about the demonetisation, he noted that lakhs of people have lost their livelihood because of it and GST. He said that in the last five years, no new employment opportunities were created and even many of those who were employed lost their jobs. “The price of gas cylinder has gone up from Rs 380 to Rs 900. The fuel price along with other essential commodities had gone up steeply leaving the middle and the poor section of the people to suffer,” he added.
Balakrishnan said that minorities, Dalits and other oppressed section came under severe attack during the Modi government. “Unable to fulfil the electoral promises, the Modi government is using national security as the election campaigning issue,” he said, adding that all the educational institutions were being saffronised.
The Marxist leader said that the AIADMK government is supporting all the betrayals of the Modi government in order to stick to power. “It suppressed all the protests by public, teachers and government employees. Corruption charges has been levelled against Chief Minister and his cabinet ministers,” he noted and urged the people to vote for DMK and its allies.
