On a tip-off that ganja was being peddled from a Housing Board building in TP Chathiram, Kilpauk Deputy Commissioner S Rajendran sent a team led by inspector Vinayagam to the spot. When the team reached there, they found nine men who were packing ganja in small sachets on the terrace of one of the buildings.

The nine men were identified as P Gunasekaran (26), his brother P Gnansekaran (24), S Tamilarasan (19), P Senthilkumar (24), M Vinoth Kumar (27), G Saravanan (31) and N Vinoth (27) of T P Chathiram, and R Keerthivasan (21) and M Sarathkumar (21) of Pulianthope.

Police said that the gang received the contraband from a peddler identified as Chandrasekar. He has already been arrested.

“The terrace is not accessible to other residents as it does not have stairs. These men would climb with the help of a ladder and would pack the ganja in small quantities to sell it for Rs 100 in different areas,” said the police. All were remanded to judicial custody on Saturday. Further investigation is on.
