According to police, Devanantham (43) from Saravanampatti and his accomplice Rasul Peter (65) had lured several persons by promising them jobs in Canada.
“The duo took upto Rs 3 lakh each from as many as 13 persons. However, they did not fulfill their assurance,” police said.
Since there was a delay of several months, the job seekers asked Devanantham and Rasul Peter to give back their money. However, the two delayed paying back the money and also refused to give a proper reason for the delay in finding them a job abroad.
Following this, the victims lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore Crime Branch police a few days ago. Based on their complaint, the CCB sleuths arrested Devanantham. A manhunt has been launched to nab Peter, who is on the run. Further inquiries are under way.
