KMC’s dialysis unit to get 6 more machines
Kilpauk Medical College is upgrading its dialysis unit to benefit more patients undergoing treatment for renal disorders at the hospital. The 20-year orthopaedic department operation theatre was also upgraded recently.

The new dialysis unit is undergoing a change of infrastructure to avail more dialysis machines. It will accommodate 15 dialysis machines that can help 80 patients in a month. Earlier, only 50 patients benifited.
“Currently, we have nine machines for dialysis and add six more to be able to perform an extra 250-300 dialysis cycles a month. The nephrology department at KMC performs 500 dialysis cycles every month. The unit will also help patients with low blood pressure,” said dean of KMC, Dr P Vasanthamani. The unit will also have the facility to perform plasmapheresis.
