“Now the Election Commission had sought three months to conduct the local body polls. It will be held definitely and the AIADMK will then emerge a winner,” he said to reporters in Salem.

Stating that the local body polls were supposed to be held even when Jayalalithaa was alive in 2016 and candidates were chosen, but the DMK stalled the process by approaching the court. “Then, again the polls were postponed due to some issues,” he added.

The Chief Minister also questioned why the DMK has moved a no-confidence motion against the Speaker if the party president MK Stalin was confident of winning the bypolls for 22 Assembly constituencies.

“Stalin has been meeting people by adopting different tactics only under the fear of defeat. He keeps telling everywhere that DMK will win in all 22 Assembly segments. If so, why did he bring a no-confidence motion against the Speaker,” he asked.

Stating that the party whip sought for action against the three AIADMK MLAs for anti-party activities, Palaniswami said, “So what is the connection between the three AIADMK MLAs and Stalin? Why is Stalin getting agitated for our party action? People should understand the nexus between DMK and AMMK. The DMK is attempting to dethrone the AIADMK government,” he said.

On the Teacher’s Eligibility Test examination issue, Palaniswami said that the state government has been forced to implement the order of the court as teachers have failed to clear the exam despite getting opportunities over several years.

Joining the issue over actor Prakash Raj allegedly agreeing to AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal’s view that Tamil student’s taking away job opportunities of Delhi natives, the Chief Minister said though Prakash Raj is acting in Tamil films, he belongs to Karnataka.

“Hence, he might have said so. Tamil students are grabbing jobs due to their individual skills. Our students could excel in studies due to revolutionary measures introduced by Jayalalithaa in the education sector. They also get Central government jobs by emerging successful in various competitive examinations,”he added.
