Two killed, 12 injured as lorry falls into gorge in Krishnagiri
Two persons died, and 12 others suffered serious injuries after a borewell lorry fell into a 30-foot deep gorge near Denkanikottai in Krishnagiri district early on Monday.

According to police, the lorry was proceeding towards Attur in Salem district from Karnataka, when its driver Kannan (28), a resident of Salem, lost control at a hair-pin bend on the Natrampalayam-Biligundulu stretch. The vehicle then fell into the gorge. Besides Kannan, there were 14 north Indian labourers in the vehicle.
In the impact of the mishap, two persons identified as Bodhi Ram (22) and Lalu Singh (30), both natives of Sikkim, were crushed to death on the spot.
On receiving information, the Anjetty police rushed to the spot and rescued the trapped persons.
The injured were rescued and sent by ambulances to the Dharmapuri and Pennagaram Government Hospitals for treatment.
Some of them have been identified as Raj Kumar (20), Supsingh (18), Buvaneshraj (22) and Pithamraj (23) and Kalai Roy (20), all hailing from Chhattisgarh.
The bodies of the deceased were sent for post- mortem at the Denkanikottai Government Hospital. The Anjetty police have registered a case in connection with the accident. Further inquiries are on.
