Burglars strike at 6 shops in Salem district
Unidentified miscreants struck at six shops on a single night on Monday in the same neighbourhood in Salem district.

The culprits managed to steal Rs 15,000 from a soft drink shop and Rs 5,000 from a furniture shop, while they left empty handed from four other establishments, sources said.
On noticing the shops broken open, the public informed the Suramangalam police, who rushed to the spot and held inquiries. The shop owners too arrived and enumerated their losses. According to local residents, the police had increased night patrol after a several burglaries were reported a few months ago. The police should increase the vigil to prevent such incidents in the future, they said. The Suramangalam police have registered a case and are checking CCTV footage.
