The villagers claimed that panchayat officials were not supplying the water properly and alleged the officials told them that the motor was repaired, and hence the water can be supplied only once or twice in a week. Following that, on Tuesday, more than hundred villagers gathered at the Paalar river bed with empty cans and protested against the village panchayat. Soon, the Chengalpattu Thaluk police arrived at the spot, and tried to convince the protestors to call off their agitation. Later, the revenue officials who arrived at the spot promised to provide regular water supply within a couple of days. The villagers finally dispersed after three hours of the protest.
