Actress Rithika, who became famous through the serial Raja Rani aired on a private television channel was in her 100 Feet Road apartment in Vadapalani when Bharath arrived. Rithika’s father Subramanian opened the door and Bharath introduced himself and asked for his daughter’s hand in marriage.

This led to an argument between Subramanian and Bharath, and neighbours came to the former’s rescue. The man was caught and was handed over to the Vadapalani police.

During interrogation, Bharath revealed that he was a resident of Gopichettipalayam. “Bharath is an engineering graduate and had reached Chennai by train on Tuesday. He was supposed to go on a trip to Goa, but he missed the flight. He was roaming in the city for the last two days and decided to pay a visit to his favourite TV actress,” said an officer.

Since Bharath seemed depressed at being rejected, Rithika’s family decided not to file a complaint against him. Later, the police let him off after receiving a written statement from him. The police said that Rithika does not know him personally and it was just an enthusiastic fans going overboard with their favourite celebrity.
