Addressing the recent unrest amongst the public due to Kamal Haasan’s latest rally at Aravakurichi, Makkal Needhi Mayyam Deputy Chief Mahendran has declared that leaders from various political parties have twisted his statement and derived a meaning that Kamal Haasan did not intend to put forth.
He said that Kamal Haasan had originally stated that terrorism can come in any form and can be undertaken by any community and that it should be strictly condemned by the government. He also stated that Kamal Haasan’s speech included that the citizens should cooperate with each other in order to create a tolerant society that is inhabitable by all.
“Makkal Needhi Mayyam believes that people belonging to every community should co-exist keeping in mind that they are all Indians first and is executing its activities with the constant support of the public. It will continue to do so”, he said.
He stated that the party will keep expressing this stance of theirs with conviction and that it holds the court and law in high regard.
