On Wednesday morning the water released from Mettur saw a sudden reduction of 2,500 cubic feet from 3,000 cubic feet. The reason cited was the reduction of the water received by Mettur dam reducing from 84 cubic feet to 56 cubic feet.
The water level too saw a steady slump, the level was at 50.61 feet on May 13, it plummeted to 50.11 feet and then to 49.80 feet the following days. This trend will continue if there is no rain in the Cauvery catchments.
