Woman kills husband, 1-yr-old son near Arcot, extramarital affair suspected

According to police, Deepika (20) of Tajpura village near Arcot, was married to Raja (25), son of Subramani of the same locality, two years back. The couple had a one-year-old son, Pranesh.

Meanwhile, a couple of days ago, Deepika lodged a complaint with the Arcot taluk police stating that her husband and son were missing for some days. Acting on her complaint police launched a search for the missing man and his son. During interrogation, Deepika gave contradictory replies and this raised suspicion in investigators that she might have played a role in the disappearance of Raja and Pranesh

When police intensified their interrogation and confronted her over the delay in filing the complaint regarding the disappearance of her husband and son, Deepika confessed that she murdered the duo and buried their bodies at a place near her house.

When police along with a team of forensic experts and doctors from Vellore GMCH checked the spot shown by Deepika, both the bodies were exhumed and sent them for post-mortem. The autopsy report revealed that Deepika had hit Raja’s head and then strangled Pranesh to death. Investigations revealed that Deepika developed a relationship with a friend of Raja. As Deepika found Raja and her son to be a hindrance to her affair, she murdered both of them with the help of her partner, who has been detained by the police. Further investigations are on.
