Tamilachi Thangapandian makes huge victory in South Chennai

Tamilachi Thangapandian won by a vote difference of 1,50,000 in Chennai South Parliamentary constituency.

South Chennai constituency was formed in 1957 and since then the DMK had won eight times. However, after delimitation in 2009, the AIADMK had won it twice consecutively.

DMK's strong candidate Tamilachi Thangapandian gained power for DMK in the constituency. With a vote difference of 1,50,000, Tamilachi Thangapandian made a clean sweep from Chennai South Parliamentary constituency. 

The current MP, J Jayavardhan, son of state Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar was the candidate for AIADMK. The constituency has recorded 57.43% turnout.
