TNML plea to put off school reopening
Citing Ramzan and intense summer heat, the Tamil Nadu Muslim League (TNML) on Monday demanded the state to postpone the reopening date for schools.

TNML founding president VMS Mustafa submitted a petition to the Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan in this regard. Mustafa, said, “Ramzan is celebrated on June 5 and Muslims who fast will not sleep in the nights and will offer prayers for 10 days before the festival. If school reopens on June 3, Muslim teachers and students will not be able to attend properly.” Though there were demands to postpone the reopening date, the state, on Monday, affirmed by passing a circular that schools would be reopened on June 3 as planned.
