Addressing reporters on the Marina beach, Thirumavalavan said, “In Tamil Nadu, all the progressive and democratic parties aligned under the leadership of DMK president MK Stalin and if similar unity had prevailed among progressive parties in other states, religious fundamental groups would not have come to power again at the Centre.”

After winning the Chidambaram Lok Sabha constituency, Thirumavalavan along with another Parliamentarian from his party D Ravi Kumar visited the Kalaignar memorial and paid respects to him. Earlier in the day, both the Parliamentarians visited MDMK headquarters and obtained wishes from MDMK leader Vaiko.

Vaiko said, “Thirumavalavan succeeded after a tough battle. Many fundamental forces acted against him yet he overpowered them and came victorious. Similarly, Ravi Kumar, one of the best writers will also accompany him to the Parliament for the first time.”
