4 detained under Goondas Act

Based on recommendations of S S Maheswaran, the Superintendent of Police, District Collector A Annadurai has ordered the administrative detention of P Senthil Kumar (52) of SBI colony in Kumbakonam, his associate-G Venkatesan (34) of Dr. Murthy Road in Kumbakonam, Chandrasekaran (45), and Mohammed Sameer (23) of Vilandakandam.

It may be noted that a gang, including Senthil Kumar-the brother of PMK functionary Balaguru-and their associates on May 1 allegedly hacked to death Arun (22) at his family grocery shop in Pathukattu Theru in Banadurai Kumbakonam over the issue of repayment of debt incurred by Arun’s father Sivasubramanian.

Sivasubramanian later attempted suicide by consuming poison when the gang threatened in public, demanding to repay the borrowed money at once.
