Youth kills mother over using phone for long, held

In what may be a rare incident, a 20-year-old man allegedly murdered his mother for speaking to someone over the mobile phone late in the night in Nagapattinam district recently.

According to sources, M Bharath (20), a construction worker from Pappatheru in Samathuvapuram, was residing with his mother Vennila (38).


When Bharath returned home in the late hours on May 25, he was annoyed to reportedly see his mother speaking to someone over the mobile for a long time. Picking up a quarrel with his mother, the duo had a heated argument till late in the night. Suddenly, an irate Bharath allegedly started assaulting Vennila, who fell down unconscious all of a sudden. Bharath then fled the scene. Upon information, the neighbours rushed Vennila to the Nagapattinam government hospital, where she was referred to Thanjavur Medical College. However, Vennila succumbed despite treatment.


The Nagai Town police registered a case aand arrested Bharath.


2 Charged for ‘Tik Tok’ video in front of police station


Two youth landed in trouble when they were charged for allegedly making ‘Tik Tok’ videos in front of the Kandamanur police station in Theni district. According to sources, Parameswaran (21), who’s employed as a driver in Tirupur, came back to his native village in Andipatti and met his friend, Thangeswaran. While Parameswaram accompanied his friend to the Kandamanur police station for licence verification process, he moved close to the station and allegedly made the ‘Tik Tok’ video and shared it on social media. He was picked up and the police have booked a case against the duo over trespassing and causing public nuisance, the SP said.
