Tiruvannamalai to get its first science park

In a first of its kind in the district, Tiruvannamalai town is soon expected to get a science park on the banks of the Vengikkal lake in front of the collector’s office, with facilities for both the young and old people to play and learn, according to official sources.


The science park being constructed on 2.50 acres of land at an estimated cost of Rs 85 lakhs, “The park will have facilities for all age groups,” Collector KS Kandasamy told DT Next.


School students who visit the park will be able to learn all the physics lessons taught in Classes 6 to 12 and “The speciality of the science park is they can learn while they play,” he added.


The park will be divided into sections for students of each classes to understand physics concepts easily, he said. The park will also have a jogging/walking track and, “The tank bund will include an open gym where the elderly can exercise to keep them fit,” added Kandasamy.


“We have also planned to construct a food court and a restaurant with a roof in addition to a video room where the functions of all the equipment in the park will be explained to the uninitiated and a small shop selling stationery,” Kandasamy averred.
