The public can rely on these state-owned fuel stations for quality and quantity. The response from the public towards these bunks are overwhelming and the department is identifying more locations to open new fuel stations, he said.

To a query on the delay in revision of salaries to the co-operatives department staff, Raju said that a committee has been formed to look into the issue. Salaries are being revised once in every five years and the hike is very much on the cards for the department staff, Raju said.

Earlier in the day, Fisheries Minister and Royapuram MLA D Jayakumar, who participated in the inaugural event urged the Co-operatives Minister to utilise the government lands and construct marriage halls and other amenities in labour dominated North Chennai. To this Sellur Raju, said he will take up the issue with the office of Chief Minister, so that more development projects and infrastructure are brought in for North Chennai.
