EPS’ fiat to bring more party posts, say elated cadre

While Vellore west district secretary and Commercial Taxes Minister KC Veeramani is yet to act on this directive, there in an increasing refrain to also revive the original Vellore central district (with a separate district secretary) to enable easy administration of party issues.

Party cadre K Suresh said “Tirupur with 9 assembly seats has three party districts whereas Vellore with 13 segments has only 2 – Vellore east where Arakonam MLA S Ravi is the district secretary and Vellore West helmed by Veeramani.” If the Vellore central district is resurrected, then Vellore city with its 60 wards will have a city secretary while the remaining three will get another party post, opine cadre.

Moreover, there is a demand that ministers should not be district secretaries and that this post be given to another on the one person-one post principle. “But whether ministers will accept this is doubtful as in the party hierarchy the district secretary is above the minister” says K Suresh.
