The State Human Rights Commission has slapped a notice to the Madurai collector questioning the transfer of Anganwadi workers who belonged to SC community.
The women complained they were discriminated and transferred on the basis of their caste and the authority under duress of the upper caste who were against working with them.
This Anganwadi centre belongs to S Valayapatti of Madurai's Thirumangalam. The SC community women said the place wasn't conducive for them to work and they felt frustrated due to discrimination.
District authorities are expected to answer within 4 weeks as stated by the notice given by Human Rights Commission. Madurai Collector within hours revoked the transfer orders of the two SC Anganwadi workers and reinstated them to work in the same S Valayapatti centre.
