CPI-M secretary R Rajangam in a statement here demanded the immediate arrest of all those involved in the murder and action under Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. The party would organize an agitation here on Saturday to press the immediate arrest of all culprits, Rajangam said. It may be recalled that Ashok, a 23-year-old Dalit and a DYFI activist was murdered by a seven-member armed gang at Karaiyiruppu near Thatchanallur in Tirunelveli district, while he was returning home from his work spot.Police suspect the involvement of a local resident, Pechiraja, in the ghastly murder.
The reason behind the murder was said to be analtercation that broke out between Ashok and Pechiraja a few days ago.
