3-year-old in Pudukkottai dies after falling into pit dug to fetch drinking water

A 3-year-old girl in Pudukkottai died after falling into a pit that was dug for fetching drinking water.

The girl, who was from Vaithur village of Pudukkottai went missing after she left to her grandmother’s house nearby. Her family and her neighbourhood searched for her, until they found her bag lying next to a pit filled with water.

The village had rainfall on Sunday, and the pits dug for drinking water were filled with water. In suspicion, they started looking for her inside the pit and found her body drowned in the drinking water pit.

Immediately, they took her to the Pudukkottai government medical college and hospital, where she was declared brought dead. This tragic incident has left the people of the village worried.

The people of the village point the district administration to hold responsibility for providing drinking water and to close the pits dug for holding drinking water in that area.
