Pondy govt hosp worker kills self

A 40-year-old government hospital employee allegedly committed suicide by hanging, in his house here on Wednesday night.

According to police, Selvam, working as an assistant in the government hospital here was an alcohol addict and failed to report for duty properly.

As a result, he did not get his salary properly for the last six months and Selvam borrowed money from others to drink. His wife Jayarani (35), quarreled with him last evening and went to her brother’s house at Govindasaalai. When he was alone in the house last night, Selvam allegedly committed suicide by hanging in his house. Mudaliarpet police have recovered the body and sent it to the GH for post-mortem and registereda case.
