Students will get marks for planting trees: Minister Sengottaiyan

School Education Minister Sengottaiyan, while distributing free laptop to students at Erode said that students will be awarded 2 marks for planting and maintaining a tree.
The laptop distribution ceremony took place in Erode Punjai Puliyampatti KVK Government Boys Higher Secondary School and Government Girls Higher Secondary School. Ministers KA Sengottaiyan and KC Karupanan were present at the ceremony.
“Free laptop scheme is more successful in Tamil Nadu than in other states. So far 10,80,000 laptops have been supplied to the students. The Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has praised the newly designed syllabus in TN which is capable to meet all the competitive examinations. He has called me to Uttar Pradesh for the implementation of such a program in his state,” said Minister Sengottaiyan.
He added, “Within 3 months, laptops will be provided to students who have studied in the year 2017-18. New syllabus books will be provided to students of class 2-5 in one or two weeks. Issuing of school uniforms was delayed as the electoral rules was into effect. Color uniforms will be issued for students within the next week. New software consisting of about 2,000 English words is to be delivered soon to the school children for learning English in ‘Quick response’ approach. Steps are being taken for the school children to plant and maintain 1.5 crore trees. They get 2 marks per tree for this. Adequate water is provided to all the government schools. Private school administrators must organise their own water through vehicles.”
MLA Eswaran, Union Secretary of Bhavanisagar VA Palanisamy, Puliyampatti City Secretary Murthy, former MPs Kaliyappan and Chinnasami were among the many who took part in the laptop distribution.
