An announcement from the AIADMK headquarters on Wednesday issued by party convenor O Panneerselvam and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami briefed about the upcoming Assembly session and issues to be discussed during the demand on grants. All the party MLAs are directed to attend the legislators meet without fail, the statement said.
According to AIADMK insiders this the second crucial meeting of the party MLAs within a month. The party on June 12 convened its districts secretary meeting to discuss about the dual leadership. The meeting will brief the MLAs on the political strategies that has to be adopted during the session and the participation in case of any motion mooted against the Speaker. The party had a similar briefing when Panneerselvam mooted a no confidence motion against the Palaniswami government. However, the party top brass is confident of thwarting the motion by DMK and a pep talk in this regard are being prepared by the AIADMK leaders, sources said.
The MLAs who will be participating the Assembly session on Friday will take part in the resolutions condoling the death of Sulur MLA R Kanagaraj and Vikravandi MLA K Radhamani. After the session the legislators will straight away drive to the party headquarters.
“MLAs will silently take part in the meeting and no dissent voice is likely. There may be differences between OPS and EPS followers, but when it comes to opposing the DMK, the AIADMK MLAs will stay united,” an AIADMK MLA told DT Next exuding confidence that the crucial motion against Speaker Dhanapal will be defeated in the Assembly.
