Health camp to be held for govt staff
In a bid to ensure the well-being of the government employees, Collector KS Kandasamy has announced a compulsory “no pen” day for 25 days from June 27. In this move, the 37,300 government staff in Tiruvannamalai district should compulsorily attend a health camp.

Revealing this to DT Next, Kandasamy said, “The idea materialised after three government staff died due to heart attacks recently. We found out that the people who passed away are the breadwinners and their families were affected.”
Under the scheme medical camps would take place in all the 15 panchayat unions in the district. “Arrangements will be made for operations and referral treatment, if necessary,” he added.
“It is mandatory for all government staff to attend the medical camp which will be organised by personnel from the Tiruvannamalai Government Medical College Hospital, Primary Health Centres and staff from the office of the JD (health). If their attendance at the medical camp is not certified by the respective department head, their salaries will be delayed,” he added.
Calling on government staff to understand the need for a healthy living, he said, the staff would be treated for all the ailments and a whole body check-up would be conducted. “If government staff attend the medical camp, the day will be treated as a‘no pen day’ for that staffer,” he added.
