TN government appoints new Chief Secretary and DGP
Shanmugam will replace incumbent Girija Vaidyanthan who retires on June 30.

TN government has appointed JK Tripathy and K Shanmugam as the new Chief Secretary and Police Chief (DGP) of Tamil Nadu on Saturday.
K Shanmugam, Additional Chief Secretary in Finance Department has been transferred and posted as Chief Secretary, while JK Tripathy who was the DGP of the Uniform Services Recruitment Board is now appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) and Head of Police Force.
Shanmugam, an 1985 batch IAS officer, from Salem, was appointed as the Secretary of Finance in 2010.
JK Tripathy, also an 1985-batch IPS officer, hails from Odisha. He has held high responsibilities including Law and Order Additional DGP, Police Commissioner, Economic Offenses IG, South Zone IG and CBCID IG, in Tamil Nadu. He is considered as one of the efficient and allegation less police officer.
Shanmugam will replace incumbent Girija Vaidyanthan who retires on June 30 and JK Tripathy to replace Law and Order DGP DK Rajendran, post his tenure.
