“The aim is to ensure, 100% results in all schools, help students achieve the total attendance in all 210 working days, filling up teacher vacancies in schools with former teachers and heads for uninterrupted classes and teaching without any hindrance and former teachers/heads will adopt a school to ensure all round improvement,” Jayakumar said.

He added that they will also look into, “Creating rapport between students, parents and teachers; making students participate in school day/annual day to improve talent.”

Calling for school heads to prepare a list of former students who are interested in the welfare of the school, a circular from the CEO has been issued to all the government and government aided schools.

An instruction has also been sent to District Education Officers (DEO) to chair meetings on the issues in schools in each taluk.

The DEOs meeting would be held in the Government Boys HSS in Cheyyar and in the Subramania Sastri Government HSS at Arni on July 4, they would also be held in the Government Boys HSS at Polur and Chengam on July 5. The meeting for Tiruvannamalai would be held at the Thyagi A Annamalai Government HSS on July 7, Jayakumar told this reporter.

“We have instructed that each meeting should be attended by representatives of the Junior Red Cross of the school,” Jayakumar added.

The meetings are to be anchored by former school heads, “Only the Cheyyar meeting will be helmed by an incumbent school head while the other meetings planned at Arni, Polur, Chengam and Tiruvannamalai are to be chaired by retired school heads,” department officials said.

“Response to the first meeting on July 4 at Cheyyar and Arni will reveal how the scheme will take off,” officials averred.
