Army man from TN kills self in J and K

P Ram Kumar, 31, who was deputed in providing security to pilgrims visiting Kashmir for Amarnath Yatra, had taken the extreme step on Sunday around 3pm. He reportedly shot himself to death.

A native of Gudalur, Ram Kumar was married to Kavitha from the same neighbourhood ten years ago and they have a four-year-old son. However due to frequent family squabbles, the couple had a troubled married life. Hence, she left him to live with her parents.

A few months ago, Ram Kumar who came on leave had stayed with his extended family members and left to Kashmir on June 1. It is yet to be known if he committed suicide over family issues or other reasons.

Meanwhile the body of the deceased is likely to reach Coimbatore by flight and then to be taken home town by an ambulance for final rites.

The family members of Ram Kumar had sought for a detailed inquiry to know the reason behind his extreme step. They claimed that Ram Kumar was determined to sacrifice his life only for the cause of nation and is not someone who would end life by committing suicide.
