Govt mulls over facelift to Hotel Tamil Nadu

State Tourism Minister Vellamandi N Natarajan on Monday informed the state assembly that Hotel Tamil Nadu, a chain of hotels run by Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) present across the state would be upgraded.

Delivering his address, the Minister said, “TTDC has been taking continuous efforts to upgrade all the hotels under its purview to meet the expectations and demands of the tourists. The hotel rooms, toilets and roads present in hotels will be upgraded.”


He also said that 14 rooms in Hotel Tamil Nadu in Coimbatore will be renovated at the total cost of Rs 30 lakh. Similarly, 10 rooms in Hotel Tamil Nadu in Madurai and 10 rooms in Hotel Tamil Nadu in Tiruchy will be renovated at the cost of Rs 35 lakh each.


The toilet facilities in Hotel Tamil Nadu in Tiruttani will be upgraded at the cost of Rs 10 lakh. “The Hotel Tamil Nadu present in Tiruttani is situation in National Highways enroute Tirupati and large number of tourists who opt for Thirumala- Tirupati tour package take rest in Tiruttani. There were complaints that the toilet facilities in Hotel Tamil Nadu in Tiruttani were not sufficient and so additional toilet facilities will be made,” said the Minister.


He further said that Hotel Tamil Nadu in Ooty, functioning with 65 rooms, would get a new road at the cost of Rs 8 lakh. The kitchen and mess facilities in Youth Hostel, in Ooty, also run by TTDC would be renovated at the total cost of Rs 15 lakhs, he added.
