“I agree with many of the points Suriya raises. I condemn the autocratic attitude of Centre and state,” Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan tweeted, adding that he had every right to talk about education because his family “does a lot for educational development of the poor.”
Later, actor Suriya thanked Kamal for his support.
CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan condemned the BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan and national secretary H Raja for trying to intimidate the actor for criticising the draft policy. “It is our duty to stand with Suriya. Let us bring out the dangerous aspects of the draft education policy which threatens to destroy our education system,” he appealed.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Kadambur Raju rejected the actor’s remarks as “half baked.”
