Grand reception accorded to woman cop for bagging gold
A grand reception was accorded to a woman sub inspector who bagged a gold medal in weight lifting competition in the Commonwealth games held in Australia.

P Anuradha (26), a resident of Nemmelipatti in Pudukkottai district, was employed as a sub inspector of police at Thogur police station in Thanjavur. Recently, she took part in the Commonwealth games and clinched gold under 87 kg category in snatch, clean and jerk rounds.
On Thursday, the gold woman returned to her native place and was accorded a warm reception by the public and police friends. “This is my first gold in an international event. Though several women secure gold, they lose confidence to compete in international events as there is shortage of coaches,” she said.
Stating that only Vellore district has been training youth in weight lifting, Anuradha said, the youth are not interested to get trained for the event owing to several deficiencies within themselves.
Anuradha has previously secured gold in 2014 and 2015 in Patiala and Kerala respectively and has received monetary assistance of Rs 3 lakh.
Meanwhile, Anuradha secured a government job as a sub inspector and the police friends have been supporting her actively participate in sports. “I also owe my victory to the people of my village and my relatives have encouraged me to actively participate the event,” she said and added the she would secure Gold in the next Commonwealth games.
