Pre-test for census with Aadhaar details
The state government will commence pre-test for Census 2021 from August 12 and will go on till September 30, this year.

According to the gazette notification of Tamil Nadu government, Union Home Ministry has directed all the states and union territories to conduct pre-test of Census of India, 2021, for a period of 48 days, starting from August 12 to September 30.
Officials of Revenue Department said that the census enumeration exercise would commence in 2021, but before the census exercise, the issues while taking the census need to be sorted out and so a pre-test would be conducted in a similar manner as compared to the original census. Since the census is taken once in 10 years, new challenges crop in during each census, said officials.
The officials also said that Commissioner of Revenue Administration would be a member of the technological advisory team and three districts, Sivaganga, The Nilgiris and Kancheepuram, were selected for the purpose of taking pre-test.
Officials further said that the upcoming census will have many new details such density of population for a square kilometre and will seek additional data such as Aadhaar numbers along with the regular information on men, women, literacy rate and their age.
